I don't think you will have any problem with officer price, Furgood. You are the most legal competitor I've ever had and Price is a good egg in my book. I'm pretty sure he also traps. We're all constantly learning and we all make mistakes. This Price guy sounds like an idiot to me. If you are going to enforce the law, it is your duty to know it. Simple as that. Maybe he should go back to being a park ranger or just quit the law enforcement line of work. What a loser.

The Iowa Code only addresses attaching snares to a drag and does not include other traps.

Had a county police officer tell me it's legal to trap ditches but not under bridges or in the water of non meandering streams within the right of way as I was setting a dogproof under a bridge. After 5 minutes of telling her the laws, she called the game warden and was proven wrong. Still didn't believe the right of way is 33 feet from the center line and said it's the fenceline. So I found it on the Internet and screenshoted a picture on my phone in case I have to deal with that again.
It'd be nice if the authorities knew the laws before making accusations. But it's fun to prove them wrong.
I'd try to find some info on the drag/ concrete block law so you can present it if you're questioned again.

He is wrong, gene has it right, it only addresses snares in the right of way. I have been using this set for 20yrs and will continue to do so. Everybody makes mistakes, this guy just doesn't have it right this time.

I am still waiting to meet with Mr. Price. I pulled my everyday sets on the 11th, told him I was now on extended check and could meet with him any time on the 12th. He has my # and except for a couple private property checks I am open all day. He seems to be a very busy man. I am not reacting to things very well this trapping season, and this is just something else that can't get put to rest. Next week I will be out of Iowa, and the state may not get any more license fees from me for a while if this is how they keep people on a string. I can deal with things if they can get put behind me.

Thanks Joe. Keep us updated. Don't let one guy get the best of you. You can come trap over on my side of the state. I don't mind honest competition.

Well, I/ll tell a little story about the power of coon: I was a young trapper and caught a runt coon. Seriously not much bigger than a kitten...maybe 5 lbs. Let him out of the trap and figured what a cute little fella, maybe I/ll bring him home (wouldn't have survived the winter in my young mind). So I grab the little bugger by the back two feet and he starts slowly walking away (with just his 2 front feet on the ground). He pulled me off my knees and drug me about 15 feet in slow motion across a beaver dam until I got enough brains (and sticks to the crotch) to let go. I thought I/d wear him out but it was like a little choo choo that lost no power. I was about 160lbs then. It was an eye opening experience into the power of coon.
Hopefully that C/O you have there matures abit as time goes on.
