Today the Illinois governor signed a bill making it legal to shoot muskrats in the water with a .22 cal rifle year around. I was told that this bill had died but it has resurfaced and passed into law. Illinois HB 0006 WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE THINKING??? THIS SUCKS

North Dakota passed a muskrat and mink hunting season 10 years or so ago and it has been very well received.

Johna In wouldn't worry about this to much because the people that are going to shoot the rats are probably already doing it anyway. Just because its legal now doesn't mean it has been going on before.

If there is a Rat problem why not just open a spring season? Illinois is a weird state. There are many limitations that Iowa does not have....but you can shine coon and shoot rats.

I read on T-Man that that part of the bill was thrown out but they extended the rat and mink season. Anyone have a link to the bill? Shooting a rifle across water is really not being very responsible in my opinion. LLL
