Wow! I was bummed that I shipped my rats to FH rather than NAFA because I only averaged $8.22 and would have probably done a couple bucks better at the last NAFA auction. But paying taxes on an $8.22 rat and a 23.26 coon kinda takes the fun, and profit, out of the deal! Guess my $22.88 average at NAFA will turn out to be about local carcass price by the time they take the commission, shipping charges and I pay taxes on them! If anyone wants to put my coon up this season, I'll let you do it if you give me about $5 per head! I can make a pretty good argument that is what it cost me to ship this year.

I guy should claim his fur check every year. If you’re a part time trapper with a full item job you can itemize your taxes and there will be years where you will make more in tax money kept that your fur check. I’ve done it for years….your can deduct about everything you use and more. …it’s not that hard and a smart idea.
I don't have a full item job any more but i still claim my fur check i just include it with my biz because trapping most of the time is a losing game when you add it all up
