Out of State Beaver

While not the adventure the guys on here who are trapping in SD this spring, technically, I too am state hopping. I'm working on beaver on the old Missouri River channel where part of Nebraska is east of the Missouri River. If I knew where the state line was, I could stand with one foot in NE and the other in IA. But no one I've talked too knows exactly where Iowa ends and Nebraska begins. Kind of weird that all of the vehicles coming and going from the little river village beyond my sets have Nebraska plates!
I believe I caught the beaver causing the problem so I uncorked the dam in the tube today. Pulling dams in a 48" tube under the road always sucks but this was the worst. Almost all wood with some mud and a few cattails and corn stalks. And many winter killed decomposing dead fish for mortar.
Day one...

Today, when I had just really opened things up, I had a big gar catch on my waders which gave me a start, But I actually heard myself scream when I felt something climbing my shoulder shortly after! Muskrat! Threw him off only to have him try to climb me again! I had my Nite Lite on and maybe that confused the rat, or maybe he was trying to just find higher ground.![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png)
I'm not sure but I think this beaver was caught in Nebraska...

Had to be a Husker cuz he fell for one of ADC's high visibility life time camlock snares...

Why I am I neck snaring nuisance beaver? Good question! I opened up my snares and here is one that was not going any where...

This was the wildest beaver I have caught in a while. He was fighting the snare as we pulled up yesterday and never quit until I shot him. It was the most frayed I've seen one of ADC's "Bobcat" snares.
I had asked Arcman if he had set this spot since the fresh sign wasn't proportionate to six month sign. It was not him but I believe it was LLL...look at all the empty Busch Light cans my girls picked up while I was working on the dam yesterday!![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Just kidding Larry, actually it was another friend of mine who uses strictly Duke 330 and never any lure. So I Solved the problem quickly with standard lured sets. Didn't get anything in bodygrips of course! Except...

I'll get a couple pictures of the old river bed tomorrow when I pull my traps. I think there will be a lot more acres to farm this year along the old river bed.
