If I remember right it was addressed at the meeting that we addressed the pre staking issue in Hamburg.
I thought they extened the season to april 15 just like beaver but it was only for certon couties but I really never got the full low down.......HB Ken

I went to the DNR web page pulled up the seasons for trapping and from what I can see its still the same. So Im confused with the letter posted prevoicely in this thread....Is there anyone that can help me understand what went on with this supposed extended muskrat season?

If there would be a need to extend the muskrat season in a particular area due to high numbers demolishing the vegatation, the DNR or County Conservation Board Director has the ability to open the season back up on an emergency basis or marsh to marsh basis. The only thing I think that was changed was the date of the 15th of april to the 1st of april to bring it in line with Beaver closing date in the wording.
I doubt this would ever be statewide and I'm pretty sure they would publish it somewhere if they ever do that.
