The Commission is requested to adopt a final rule to amend Chapter 110, “Trapping Limitations”. I GUESS I NEED A LITTLE HELP UNDERSTANDING THIS,,,,DOES ANYONE KNOW "WHO" MADE THE REQUEST TO THE COMMISSION TO AMEND CHAPTER 110 ALSO IS THIS CONSIDERED OPENING THE CODE??,,THE WAY I REMEMBER CHAPTER 110 IS PART OF THE CODE OF IOWA,,,IT DOESN'T SOUND LIKE WE ARE HEARING THE TERM ADMISTRATIVE RULE ANY MORE LIKE WE HEARD SOME TIME AGO,,, SO CAN ANYONE HELP ME OUT HERE??,,THANKS Chapter 110 sets the requirements for placing, tagging and checking traps and snares. The amendments prohibit the placement of traps or stakes in the public right-of-way outside of the legal season. They also require that live animals be released immediately or euthanized by the trapper

OK I emailed the commission but got no response some weeks ago.
Could someone post contact info on this thread so I can be sure I talk with a live human being either via phone or email. I googled around DNR stuff trying to find a phone number but not sure I am seeing the right ones.
I am thinking I am going to the wrong place as I know these folks will respond.

Previously I sent emails with my comments to every Commissioner and one to the DNR. Received only responses back from just two Commissioners, both females, thanking me for my comments. Since then have only had one of those Commissioners respond again. She is Kim Francisco and her email is Francisco, Kim [DNR] <Kim.Francisco@dnr.iowa.gov>
The following is the last response I received from her regarding this final step in the process.
"The prestaking rule I think will come up for final decision at the June meeting. If I'm wrong one of the people on the cc list should let us know. The Commission will receive a transcript of the public testimony and any letters and emails received. As always the public will be able to speak at the meeting. I hope this helps. Kim Francisco Commissioner INRC"

What we really need is representation by the members. Members should have voting rights. We need to be able to vote on Directors. Right now they are Directors for life and are appointed/approved by fellow directors. Smiley is right, I was very surprised when I found out that members do not vote on their directors, but is oppointed by the board. I think that the ones in the district should be able to appoint who they want as THEIR director, not the board. We are the ones that have to deal with them on a personal level. Just a thought from an Ole' Hillbilly

Minnow Joe if you get a B.A.D. option on snares and allow 280 and larger body gripping traps to be 1/2 way out of the water, I'd be a very happy camper...er... trapper. ~ADC~

Some years ago I proposed to the ITA BOD a break away option to deer stops and handed out quite a bit of info to them.
There is an interest but the problem being it would open up a legislative action which would be an anti free for all. Once that door gets opened it opens the door for them to try anything they want.
Many will say we need to man up and give it a shot, but folks, look at the political waters before you leap. We do not want the majority that we have in the Capitol right now voting on our trapping rights.
When you see that you are outnumbered, you patiently and quietly pass on starting a fight and live to fight another day. Pick our battles wisely.
I want the break away option and also larger loops but not bad enough to risk an anti war at this time.
