We are rolling too hard for me to have made the ICN meeting.
Who attended and what are your thoughts?

Scott Gene and I were there. Looked to me like the pro prestakers outnumbered the antis by 2 or 3 to 1. I think it was mostly duck hunters though. Had a couple of guys ask me what the prestaking was all about. I asked our countys Co if he was having any complaints. He said, well yeah. Its mostly dads trying to show their kids how to trap. Wish you had been there. have a good 1 just

I made it. Was my first one, and have to say it is a neat process. Do feel bad for the sites that got cut short during the question and answer period, because there were some good ideas being presented. Does anyone know if a transcript of the meeting is available? Also would like to see the written comments that have been submitted. Scott

I sure was glad you went 1st Scott. Really I guess I'm glad the college is in WEST Burlington. I really didn't want to go 1st.lol There is something to be said for going last. I gave everyone that even looked official a copy of my letter. I don't know if any of the emails got thru. I'm thinking not. I never thought to have someone from here send it. Have a good 1 just

I was unable to attend the meeting. However, did send my response to DNR and every Commissioner via email. Have heard back from 2 Commissioners so far thanking me for sending it in.

Interesting meeting my unofficial count was 9 to 2 against outlawing prestaking. Actually was one other who said leave law but he rambled so didnt count it. Also didnt count those who spoke more than once. Spoke with Ron after will be interesting to see how this works out. Next will have to send letters to game commisioners as I will be outta state and not able to attend those meetings. Keep vigilant guys. Dont let this pass. Thanks

Thanks for the reports guys. And also for your efforts. My wife had an experiment run late so I was baby sitting and couldn't attend. Thought about taking my girls but it was going to run way past their bed time. Actually, kids will be the ones that anti-trapping legislation like this will effect the most in the long run. Doesn't surprise me that the antis were out numbered even though many of the director's polls indicated the majority of ITA members oppose prestaking. I still don't know why this really became an issue. I figured those who are good at complaining to their CO's and directors and are too lazy to out work the competition would also be too lazy to attend the meetings. When I die I hope to learn two things: What happened to all my prized baseball cards that my mother swore she never threw away and why prestaking really became an issue!

Should be an actual DNR commissioner's meeting sometime in June, but hopefully one of the fella's that know for sure will chime in.

Here is the response I received.
"The prestaking rule I think will come up for final decision at the June meeting. If I'm wrong one of the people on the cc list should let us know. The Commission will receive a transcript of the public testimony and any letters and emails received. As always the public will be able to speak at the meeting. I hope this helps. Kim Francisco Commissioner INRC"
So this is not yet set in stone that we will loose pre-staking. Now I guess we need to show up at this next Commission Meeting.
