Can you use crushed walnut for tumbling fur? Hardwood sawdust is nonexistent where I am , but I can get crushed walnut and I'm wondering if it'll be an appropriate replacement .

I'm with ADC on this one I use the horse bedding and pine type sawdust with great results. I have not used hardwood sawdust so I cant say whether it makes a difference or not.

The horse bedding stuff isn't available up here in Sask., canada . That's why I'm trying to find an alternative .

I don't know if it will help you Yoteboy but you can get tumbler media from any taxidermy supply company. The catalogs list corn cob and hardwood materials. A 50 pound box of cob grit is 34.55 hardwood is 46.15 for 40 pounds. This is out of Van Dykes catalog. Don't know who your suppliers would be in Canada. If you get any a couple of cups of borax mixed into the tumbler with the media puts a very nice shine on the furs.
