Don't mistake my passion for being argumentative.
Here are some questions that I and some others would like to see answered......they've been asked before and not answered.......by not answering just adds to the issue:
1. Where are the minutes from the BOD meeting Feb 1? Where is the meetings agenda?
2. Why was the PreStaking issue brought up, voted on at this meeting.........why this meeting?
3.If the BOD didn't make a "recommendation" to the DNR regarding the Pre Staking issue.......what was the votes purpose? What was the relevance of the vote 10-9, what's done with this vote info, if it's not.........passed on?
4. Why the letters to the members from the BOD AFTER the vote?
5. Why was this vote a surprise to many of the BOD?
6. "This issue has been on the table for 3 years, so don't say you weren't informed" Are there anyother "issues/concerns" that will be voted on ......."offered up" that we might want to be "reminded" of?

you won't get a answer. as you said it has been asked before but no response. The ITA and the lack of communication is our biggest problem.

I may not have all the answers you want but will tell you what I know.
1 The minutes of the ITA meetings go to a review board and after any corrections they find are made the will then go to all the BOD and officers. The minutes will be up for additions, corrections or approved a presented at the BOD meeting. They are then official and will be posted on the ITA web site. There is and always has been an adgend for all meetings and are sent to all BOD and officers that have email and/or are given to all present at the BOD meetings.
2 A director at the urging of some of his district members brought the subject up for discussion and vote. To say you are caught off guard seems pretty feeble to me. You are their representative and do not know what they stand for!! This is not a new item and has been discussed in the past.
3 The vote was challenged there for we must follow what the Bylaws give for direction. The first step to the challenge was from a ITA member to his district director who chose to ask the BOD to reconsider its vote at the next meeting. That has been done and will be honored.
4 On this forum we have been asked to provide documentation to back up our vote. I have been a director since the mid 70s and know and knew at the time of the vote how my district felt. I sent the letter out so I would have the documented fact, which I have. It seems like no one is willing to take a person at his word. Seems strange that anyone can challenge my charcter and what I have done and what I stand for yet they have all the answers and nothing to back their loose lips. (sorry I am just tired of the WHINERS here who don't have a clue)
5 I think surprised is something that was coined in the discussion here. There was long and heated discussion so surprise as an arguement even surprises me.
6 I had brought this subject to this forum as recently as 6 months ago give or take.
Hope this helps. To those who say you will not get an answer get your head out of the sand. The directors here have been taking your ridicule and abuse and still answer the questions. You are just pissed because they are not the answers you want to hear.

Gene I appreciate your thick skin, I really do. Wonder why we don't hear from any BOD's that voted to save pre-staking? Surly one or more of them are members here. ~ADC~

There are 3 who have no email. There are at least 7 who are listed on the ITA site that have email, but use it only to get the adgend and meeting information and their wife does that not the director, atleast they have never responded to me.

I spoke with a Director the other day who I will not name. He can chime in if he wants his name attached to this. He got a clear majority response from the trappers in his district to ban prestaking. In years past, even though this Director is not a fan of snares, he has fought hard for snaring because the majority of trappers in his district like snaring.
Folks, I gotta have respect for a guy who understands that his role is to represent a majority of trappers in his area. Not just longliners, not just hobby trappers, a majority.
I don't agree with the majority of trappers in his district, but by golly that director is doing what a director is supposed to do, REPRESENTING them.
Some very smart and hard rolling trappers are on here. We may have to realize that there is a silent majority who have us outnumbered on this deal.
Sometimes when you lose a fight, you have to just spit on the ground and move on, even if you got sucker punched and didn't see it coming.
Lets move on guys. Lets go to the ICN meetings and BOD meetings and present our case in the best way we can. If we lose lets look forward and not backward.
The only healthy thing that can come from looking backward is not to get caught off gaurd again. Many of us have been hearing for a long time that something is brewing on this prestaking issue. Quite frankly I felt like it had passed and dropped my guard. Stopped asking about it and stopped paying attention.
Won't happen again.

Gene keep that thick hide we both need it, thanks for the survey and I know you will do the right thing for the members in your area, you have my comments but I am only one member. Keep up the good work. You look atyevery member in your area as equal and that is the way it should be.

Glad it was your dime Bruce. We almost let the time get away. This is a very personal issue with some I can understand but I must look at the big picture and do what the district folks want. You made me get the documentation and guess that does make my stance much easier to show. They just don't like prestaking because they have seen all the grief and discontent it causes amoung trappers.
Very good letter Bruce and your opinion has been noted.

OK I didn't know if you'd want me naming you Gene.
Fellas, guys like Gene can't represent thier own beliefs, nor can they represent thier buddies beliefs. They have to represent the majority of trappers in thier district.
Gene has been talking about this to me for several years, and I gather he has an area over there with real problems. I still think the problem areas are regional, hence the very close vote.
I still have issues with not even allowing a pogo or other peice of gear such as a rerod stake to be put in especially the water. Im not even sure how a CO would enforce such a thing. As many of you know I am a concrete block user at times, and I tend to stash the block nearby when I pull the trap. The way this law sounds, I may actually be in violation doing that.

Just because we don't all agree doesn't mean we can't talk about it. If I did not believe what I was saying I sure would not say it. Everyone should have a say and I will fight for that also. It takes several years to get a good feel for what is happening not just in your area or state but nation wide. We will NEVER all agree.

Some one sabatoged the voting machin so We'll never know the true outcome. Might have been mafia hoodlums. !!!
Afirmative on the ss, just take it to the river every two weeks or so to keep it fresh.
Would think twice on the areas you mentioned, gotta remember Gene is a retired highwayman, might be contagious.
Another problem, the Fonanelle airport won't handle Lear jets. !! Later

If we are going to run a longline together this fall would probably be a good idea if you was close. Or maybe a couple of hundred miles away and we could just trap between and have a place to skin and sleep each night.

Darn Gene did you keep one of those orange trucks for personal use , would be common to see two guys snoozing in it along the road. No one would ever suspect it would be two trappers. !!!
