Im making caps for my dp's out pf schedule 40 pvc and a end cap. Ive herd a lot of guys tie there caps to the trap with cable so they dont loose the caps, im afraid the cable will get raped up in the chain making the swivels not work. I was thinking just make extra caps and not tieing them to the trap. Any thoughts on this?

Are you trying to keep mice out or rain? If the cap is not that much bigger than your trap throat it funnels water into the trap. That is a downside to using golf balls. I would also think about how you would store them also so they would be easy to get out of your barrel or bucket or whatever you have them in while getting them set out. LLL

Make sure they have a lip or something a coon can get ahold of or they may work the trap from a different angle than what you want. LLL

Use a short piece of nylon string to attach the cap to the trap chain. Store the cap in the trap partially set. I tried cable and found bunnies going down the same trail will hook the cable and knock the cap off the trap. As far as rain is concerned --- What rain???--- Drier than popcorn flatulation here.

Yea what rain? Im sure as soon as i try and set traps down a dirt road it will rain. Doesn't that nylon string get wrapped up in the chain when u make a catch? Im gona drill four quarter inch holes on the side to let sent out and give the coon a little more to grip when they pull it out.

Why not use those jumbo marshmallows too plug the top? Then set a large marshmallow under the trigger, that's what I'm planning on doing this year if I have mice chewing and eating them.

I dont like marshmellows, they can get hard then the trigger doent work very well, hard to move. I like pelletized bait or ground fish and Z-Caps. My favorite DP is a Z-Trap and Z-Cap
