adc on here sells some great dogproof bait, also get a cheap dry small cat food fish flavor and mix with a 2-4 ounces of cherry oil you can get both at your local grocery store. mix it up well and let dry or use it wet, it don't matter, just don't fill the trap all the way to the top, but i am not a pro dp man yet, so i am only repeating what i have learned.

canned tuna in oil. the oil helps from freezing. add a lil shell fish oil to it. push it in down underneath the trigger. putting a marshmellow on the trigger works good to

Get in touch with ADC, he makes dog proof bait that is in a league of its own. It is super cheap considering the amount of fur you put up with one bag. Most anything with catch coon, marshmallow, Salman, tuna, cat food ect. HOWEVER if you want a bait the coon will not walk by, get a bag of ADC bait. That bait is in my opinion the cheapest most effective way to put up a lot fur in a short amount of time.

Coon grabbers & spray some fish oil. Don't even hafta mess with bait or re-baiting it. Plus if the coon ate the grabber just cut em open and get it back. Been on the same coon grabbers for 4 years now and only have lost 1.

I bought some fruity mini marshmellows from walmart and a 37 cent box of cherry jello mix and mixed the two together and seemed to work real well for me today.

I put some ground up carp on the bottom of the DP then I place a marshmallow on top of the trigger then some more carp on top of the marshmallow, then I place a styrofoam cup on the top with the bottom cut out.

It works better if you put the marshmallow at the bottom and the bait at the top and some fish oil!

Marshmallows work great! Also, I have heard about using fish as bait too. Not sure how well the fish works but could be worth a try. Maybe minnows, sardines, or possibly tuna

As the weather gets colder, using a bait which will not freeze is of great importance. You even need to be careful with a big marshmallow on the trigger unless it has been dehydrated, or air dried so it has become pretty leathery. An untripped DP with the stabilizer pulled out of the ground is a bad sign your bait was frozen when the coon worked the set.
Dry pet food is still a good option in sub-freezing weather.

ADC s trail mix worked very well for me as did his fish bait as a change up after catching a few in same DP ...But with the fish bait I kepted it below the trigger just in case of freeze up .... I caught a couple L and M sized coon with both front paws in the DP s .....J M O and this was my first year using the DP s ( z trap ) 18 DP s caught over 40 coon in first 7 days

I like the marshmallow and relatively dry bait in the tube.
Anything that will freeze or is to sticky to fall out of an upside down DP is more of a pain than what it is worth.
