Read in an article that said acetone shot works. How does it work. how do you get close enough with out getting sprayed

They make a long pole with a syringe on the end and from the videos I've seen, you put it behind the shoulder and try for the heart/lungs. Never tried it myself though.

NickC had a video of it once. Just a syringe pole with 12cc's of acetone. You walk up slow and calm, letting the skunk settle down as you go. Put the needle into the chest cavity and way you can get it with a steady pressure and inject. Retract the needle slow and slowly walk away. They should be dead inside of 2min. (I don't do it. I shoot mine, but have seen it done lots of times.)

Dan Brault's demo at the Midwest Trappers convention at Milledgeville ill was on just this topic. He explained how to do it. Also demonstrated how to extract essence. Ask to see my skunk pole sometime. It would be a great demo for ITA . hint hint.

I use a skunk pole to kill all my skunks. I save the essence and tan the hides to sell.
