Baited sets for me Josh, mostly. (anyone can catch mink in a pocket set, ;D ) I do set a few blind sets but the vast majority of the mink sets I make are either pockets or fish stick sets. If it weren't for mink I don't think I'd ever trap in the water but I do a little just because I enjoy catching a couple once in a while. ~ADC~

The few I catch are incidentals in pockets and fish sticks, however, the very first one I ever caught was on a notched log entering the water. Hmmmm. Might need to look for more logs, because thinking about that mink still excites me!

Mostly pockets with carp. caught seven in colonies.two in 220s trails, last year, don't remember any in leghold blinds but I do set them at times and they work fine. But colonies and pockets are my bread and butter.

Pockets with carp and ONLY when there stealing my carp!! To trap mink alone in my area is a fools game. Go after coon the mink rob you. Go after mink and the coon rob you! LLL

i prefer blind about 95% of the time with mink, i rarely set a baited set specifically for mink. was taught to set blind and it is becoming a lost art among many trappers, i don't think it is because they don't like to set blind but maybe that they have a hard time seeing the blind set.

Glad I don't trap in the belt. Sounds like ya have thieves of all kinds 2 and 4 legged. And they wonder why I'm packing!! LLL

Mostly blind sets for me. I don't play in the water much and absolutely hate soggy coon. No big bloody chunk of carp at the set helps keep the coon out of my mink sets.

My standard procedure is to put in a pocket set and 1 or 2 BE sets if at all possible. Those BE sets dont care if its frozen and pick up alot of rats if there ARE ANY RATS!

I could find decent blind sets at every location. I personal think I'll catch more fur, faster in pockets. It is fun to catch them in blind sets.

I set on sign and let the immediate area dictate what I set. Gotta admit I do love catching mink in 110's set on the crossover of pond dams ;D

Figure out where the mink is going and put a trap in his way. At least that's what the old boy told me when I asked that question a long time ago. Yes, I AM messing with you. But that is the basic concept! You use your knowledge of mink habits and read the signs/terrain to determine where to place your trap to intercept the mink in it's travels.

I know the Master always said a blind set is not even a 50-50 set.
