Have any of you fastened the 220 buckets to a tree, with the intention of DPing the set. If so,what seemed to work best. Yes, I've got some DPs, just trying to use what I have.

I've not tried it myself but I'd think if you kept them high in the tree or too close to the ground for dogs to get up under they could work. Be easy for thieves to spot too if you set them in the wrong locations. Be nice to see what ideas you get here and what you come up with. ~ADC~

First make a box with a way to mount it to a tree 6 " off the ground and solid with screws chains wire or nails. Top of box has to have a door for rebaiting. Slit on sides for conibear springs. Springs are wired to keep trap in box. Wire spring with only one wire on rod next to box. Wrap wire in a u shape on spring so it is still able to work and shoot out of box. Make bait holder of some kind. I use window screen stapled together to make a pocket to hang in box.

IME, dog proofing buckets, boxes, cubbies, etc. basically coon proof them, too. I'd use tube type DPs until cold weather, then go to baited 220s in dog free areas using fish or sweet baits which hold little interest for canines. Wouldn't hurt to experiment with a couple elevated sets but don't expect success rates to even approach the tried and true methods.

All them used 220 you got at the convention you better buy a lot of wood to make boxes with. You could put them on line fence and old farm lots .
