Does anyone use just one vice grip in the tail area? It seems like everyone uses 2? I read that Ron Hansen's used one and washing machine parts for the puller.

My buyer only uses one, so I copied his, but it does slip sometimes, and the grips are laying on the floor so get's little messier, Having only one I expect the tension is more critical than having two. I seem to fight the position as it doesn't swivel, attached to the floor with a cable so no swivel. If my volume gets higher I'd get a swivel base and 2 grips.

If it tears where the hide is gripped (which can happen on occasion), I'd rather it was at the tips of the two feet than in the center of the back. ~ADC~

I have studied these for quite a while. Now I am looking forward to the season to use one of ADC'S. Works with the double grips and the swivel base. I think I will be happy.

My skinning machine uses one vise on the lower back. Never had one tear, every once in a great while it will slip off. It definatly does a good and fast job.

I have had the skinner I made with Ron for a long time.It uses I clamp and never a problem. But with coyotes you need 2 if it is stiff. If jerking a lot of animals one more move is a wasted move.

We will use it for our coons but am really interested on seeing it on the first coyote. My back feels better already.

Go slow on them coyotes Don. You'll need to help with a knife if they are cold or you'll likely tear them. Still it beats pulling by hand.

Never skinned a badger yet Don, sorry. You're lucky! They're tough to skin by hand. Not much fat. I'm sure they would be able to be skinned on the machine.

i know the traditional way to skin beaver but why couldn't you skin a beaver on a machine and then cut it up the belly when its all cased out??? just a question

With a cased skined critter, the opening cut is back foot to back foot, providing an opening large enough for the hide to pulled over the body. On a bever, the opening cuts are around the tail & feet, then up the belly, not leaving an opening big enough for the hide to fit over the body. I think you could do the tail, belly & feet cuts, skin out the back legs, then use the machine to help pull the hide, but I think there would be a lot of knife work as you go along. I hang a bever by the tail once I have the back legs free from the hide to do the rest of it & think a machine would be a help, if I had one! Dennis
