Jaymie if you are trapping legally why should you care if they check your tag? You will never get the law changed on a NO tag deal but I think it makes sense for a number not an address. LLL I;m not trying to change the law, I can't care less about it. But if my trap is set legally, there is no reason for anyone to touch my set or even get close to it if they see its there. I don't think its right to mess with other peoples sets, even leaving your scent there may be a bad thing, no one knows for sure. It don't matter who's set it is, leave it the heck alone if its a legal set. ~ADC~ Totally agree with that but a lot of people can't keep their hands to their selves hence the problem I have with it. Here's another question about trap tags. When trapping with a partner, who's name goes on the trap tags if you are both checking the same traps? What if your partner is unable to check traps for some reason. Is it legal for you to check, set or pull his or her traps?

arcman most CO's would use common sense in this situation, but to be on the safe side you would need both trappers info on the traps.

Wow I didn't know how touchy this subject was. I will be attending the meeting and I would like to see what can be done and learn more about opening the code.

arcman; last season in van buren co. a trapper was ticketed for checking his partners trap when they were both within 5-10 ft. of the trap. there was only one tag on the trap. tom

Remeber when opening the Code because YOU want a chenge could affect what happens to all other trappers in the state of Iowa. It is very selfish to do something that is to appease a small number of trappers.
If you all willing to open the Code you better know what the rest of the Code has in it, because EVERYTHING in that section is now open for scurntiny and ANYONE can propose changes. These are the times when you can really get screwed. Likewise if there are no other changes proposed you are ok. Just be prepared to loose more than you can gain.
Sorry but I just can not get too fired up about a little piece of copper with my name and address on it. If someone is looking for me I doubt that they will go steal my traps for my address. Just do a search on the computer and you can find anyone.

Gene I wasn't saying I would pursue this I was just stating I would like to learn more about it. Is there a way of seeing what else is in that code before someone sticks their necks out and says t let's do this.

ITA lobbyist, Jim Obradovich, will have a Q&A demo Saturday morning @ 9. Jim is very good at answering/explaining the code questions.

I too don't like the sound of opening the code, but if we ever do, we should have a laundry list of things to get done all at once.
