I'm thinking the same thing. Once I hit 21, a pistol will be on my belt all season. It'll be way easier to carry around.

Technically, it would be illegal to use a rifle for dispatch in the row ditches where I do most of my trapping. Sure is nice on private ground to have the added range for skunks and such though.

I use a Henry Mini Bolt .22 youth rifle. Good Choice with that particular rifle...I use the same too. Single shot, dang near idiot proof, great sights and you can pop Sweet-Gum balls at 25 yards all day...Oh yeah and it works very well with .22 shorts. Add to that a sling and you and toss over your shoulders and almost forget it is there and I too like the 'stand-off' capability...

Glock 17 with 22lr conversion, fiberoptic & tritium sights will glow for 10+ years, blackhawk serpa holster. Heritage much more economical and able to shoot shorts. Do you have any trouble with your conversion kit jamming, and what type of ammo do you shoot. I have a G17 also and have never had a malfunction with any type of 9mm ammo, but my 22 kit jams a lot.For my trapline gun I shoot an RG snub nose revolver which I like because I can put it in my pocket Only used the ammo recommend with the kit Federal Golden bullets I think (Advantage arms) only 4-500 rnds thru it don't remember any failures. I found a few shorts and it even feeds those, but doesn't cycle, I need to get some more for testing. I'm ok if it doesn't cycle if it feeds them.

Water to Shooting Rifle Over Water or Highway You cannot shoot any rifle on or over any of the public highways or waters of the state or any railroad right-of-way Please tell me if I am wrong, but if that is the way it reads which it does, then why is it illegal to walk into the ROW and dispatch with a rifle? As long as you are not shooting over the road, or in a railroad ROW it should be leagal, right?

IF it said "roadway" that would only mean the traveled portion of the road, not the ditches. ~ADC~

I used to have the walther p22, i found that it required too much attention and care for a trapping gun. It doesnt like the cold or grime or water involved with trapping. I now carry the Heritage rough rider because it works every time, has a safety, and i dont have to feel bad treating it like the turd that it is!!
