So OK I understand the reasoning behind it. Save the birds of prey. Does it include baiting muskrat floats? I've been using dropped pears from the neighbors trees and I do pick up an occasional rat but it never occured to me that the floats may need to be covered. It would be a real p i t a and probably cause it to freeze sooner so if it don't need to be done I don't want to do it. There don't seem to be many rats there and the creek bottom is soft mud so any other set is kinda difficult. Especially for rats worth $1.50. Have a good one just

this is the defination of exposed bait asit pertain to iowa law,,,i don't think u would have any problem baiting your rat floats with pears,,i use ear corn on mine,,but then i am not in the designated area's where the exposed bait is unlaw full,,,
Exposed bait” means meat or viscera of any animal, bird, fish, amphibian or reptile with or without skin, hide or feathers that is visible to soaring birds.
