well coyote be easily got in snare set in snow with little to know cover around snare and stake, meaning no weed stalks or grass? probly avoid, not sure if should bother setting or not, know of a spot in ditch where snared 1 coyote not far away from where i i live a few weeks ago and is a trail and still coyotes using it,a big catch circle and all grass trampled down,i caught it near bottom but on steep ditch hill, would have to set half way up steep grade ditch and possibly with no weed stalks to camofloge at all not sure if should waste time on it if well for sure avoid? also when on steep hill not sure how high to set snare off ground? that height changes wityh steep hill

watch a dog go up and down a steep hill...where is their head? fairly close to the ground..3-5" high is all you need..just make the loop so it is not straight up and down...it has to be angled too with the ground

not a deer trail used to set on them years back and make some canine catches and heard of others who have, i never ever do that, all u get is snared knocked down or ruined and if persit deer quit hitting snare or catch 1 and find it laying, the snare and stake someplace or fone even, might hold 1 now that ground frozen. this a knowen coyote trail as caught a number of them there and another place where cross 4 lane in culvert by steep place,a huge culvert, well look in a little bit but probly drifted over good, i wish someone would tie there dogs up or something as there are lots just at edge of town and couple miles away running loose and hate them

with that said, a deer trail is an excellent place to catch coyotes, find the spot where the coyotes duck under and the deer step over and you can smack em
