how many do water and land trapping combined road trapping the first week when very busy? i used to do all almost all land and then start water trapping later in first week and then mostly water the second week. doing more water and along with land the first week like last year and found really slows me down as land is much faster and hate having to change from hiking boots to hip boots to many times and really slow,am to anxious to go and just cant wait to check land traps and at some slow water trapping making a set or checking the first few days and get in a hurry and not maybe careful enough, wondering what everyone else does? i get tired wearing hip boots land trapping for long and just cant much as boots get worn out, there made for wading not walking in rough ditch on land

Thats the way I do it too marshman. Water does nothing but slow me down too. If I can get all my land sets checked and have da light I will throw some water sets in. I will have rat sets out initially but I don't need hippers for that. Otherwise, I can set and check land sets almost 2:1 over water sets.

I mix, 30% water 60% land. I try to scout out locations in the summer/early fall of places for my water sets and plot a route that makes sense between water sets. And then I fill in the travel time with land sets or private property stops. I will 100% agree water trapping is slower however, i do seem to have more consistant catches at the water sets day and day out which helps me to keep my average up. Land sets depend so much on the weather pushing the coon to run. I will run this type of line until ice stops me from having water sets then I'm all land trapping. That's just what I have found works for me.

And the land coon are bigger too.

I run a mixed line. I don't use hip boots or waders in the fall. Just rubber knee boots as most of the water here is low enough. I've been slowly switching over to more snares and DPs as I prefer dry coon over wet, muddy coon. I set every creek I pass so I catch some mink and muskrat but find myself setting way more dryland trails in between.

I use to set strictly bridges and culverts with water running out of them. I have now adapted with the times and find myself purchasing more dps and now i set more land than water.

Water is very quick, and land is quick once you get all your sets in (i'm talking dirt holes) but both combined is slowww tried it last year. I finally just pulled all the coyote sets and targeted water animals and then ended up catching a coyote in a pocket set lol. It may work for other people but it did not work for me.
