using exposed bait in water illegal in boundry counties, was reading how works good on edge of water by shelf ice on no.11, seen mink tracks a number of places like this, before ordering some, thought would see if could get input whether this is a good idea or not, would not want to chance catching a eagle or bird of prey, not sure if would go for a frog or crawfish in shallow water

As a kid, sent away for three metal pinch on crayfish from an ad in F-F-G. It was the first of many times my father used the phrase, "A fool and his money are soon parted." lol But I caught a big coon in one of those crawdad sets! I was so excited until I dispatched the coon and found the coon was caught by the hind leg! I can only think of once that my dad didn't correctly use that phrase, and the mail order crayfish was not it!

this does work pretty good, get a 110 and put a fishing lure made by storm that looks like a fish like bluegill, perch, etc. and cut the hook off at the fish body and attach it to your 110 and set in a deep pool where water flows through it, set it on the bottom or half way up, doesn't seem to matter, learned this trick from minktrapping.com owner Don Powell and his Mink Trapping book

i know don uses it alot in pa as well as other guys, i have got a few in years past, honestly have not set one this year, my bottom edges were producing without having to set baited, but under ice they do shine though when it is hard to find the bottom edge location

Don't listen to LLL's nonsense, CM160. This is what all the pros use (including LLL)... Please check your regulations because these traps are so deadly, they are outlawed in many jurisdictions! Do NOT put a fishing jig or tin foil on the trigger because often you will catch 2-3 at once. Every try removing 2-3 frozen buck mink from a Tube Trap? I believe that is why Nick C advertised 6 of these for sale last fall!

i heard you can get 4 mink in there by adding fish oil, submerging them at 6 feet deep, and near a blind set location

That's funny Wayne. I used to have one of those when I was a kid. I bought it at True Value and honestly never caught a thing in it. I would say to some how put a chain to it though so whatever you do catch will still be there. There is a reason they are not legal and it has very little to do with effectiveness. LOL, LLL

i used them in missouri to catch squirrels coming out of attics, they are very effective, i know a guy in pa that has a wildlife control business that does almost a million a year that owns and uses about 150 of those for nuisance squirrels

SAVE YOUR MONEY, but if you want to try it, buy a BULK BAG of TWISTER TAILS, and a board of BOBBY PINS....
Your choice on the colors but light colors will (probably) work a little better in murky colored water...........

Ya i agree i had to quit fishing with fake fish lures because all i kept catching was mink when i was jigging across the bottom. LMAO That is why steel leaders are always a good idea! Some other equipment that looked great in the catalog, methods book or magazine that I have owned. Bigalow traps No burn snares Egg Trap Alcatraz trap Barker Mink Pans Styrofoam 'rat floats Body grip mink boxes Milk jug weasel traps "Heavy Duty" bodygrip setters Padded Jaw traps "Heavy Duty" 2 prong fox drags "Heavy Duty 3 prong coyote drags #5 Bridger long springs #1 and 1 1/2 jumps ( Good User traps!) #1 Victor stoploss with wire dogs (again, good user traps) I learned a lot from my mistakes until I decided it truly is better to learn from others' mistakes. Actually, it is best to learn from others' successes (see LLL's suggestion about fish sticks!). ;D I bet I am not the only one who has experienced buyer remorse on the trapline. Any other stuff that didn't work like the magazine, catalog or the guy ahead of you in the fur selling line stories?
