I am wanting to get a new beam and don't know for sure what I want.I am currently useing a 7x36 and feel the width is OK but I would like to have it about 6 inches longer so I don't have to worry about hitting my knuckles on my mount.I want 1 beam to do about everything from skunks and possums to the occasional coyote and beaver with the main animal being coons.I feel 8 inch wide beam would be too wide for smaller coon and possums.I have done a few possum and skunks on my 7 inch but feel it might be a little tight at times on the smaller animals. My question is would a 6 inch beam be OK for the 2x to 5x coons or will I hate it. I don't really have room for 2 beams. Let me know what you use and like thanks in advance.

I use a 5.5 inch beam for everything. I wish I had a wider one for coon, but it works just fine. Mine is 48“ long.

I did everything on a 6" beam for years. Switched to an 8" this year and really like it, but if I could only have one it would have to be the 6". Can't get smaller stuff on the bigger beam.
