Is it safe to use a #1 CS trap for coon without them pulling out?

Yes and some people prefer them over 1.5 coils. just make sure the springs are strong

Less room for the coon to get under the jaws and chew at their foot.

On a drag or drowning rig they seem to work fine.

I used a few on the line this year and they worked really good for me. Did not have any pull out. Just make sure stakes are good and solid in the ground.

I ran about a dozen this year, because I was questioning if it was ok for coon too. Mostly ran 1 1/2, because of the availability. Personally I like the 1 1/2 better, just because it's a bigger stronger trap.
