I just moved to a new house. My trapping shed is at my old house. I will be doing all my skinning and putting up of fur there and not at my new house. Do I need get new trap tags for all of my traps with my home address or keep my tags as they are since my trapping operation is done at the old location?

I'd change them just to be on the safe side.

When in doubt give your conservation officer a call...they are who write the tickets.

All traps and snares, whether set or not, possessed by a person who can reasonably be presumed to be trapping must have a metal tag attached, plainly labeled with the users name and address.
I probably wouldn't take the chance - though I'd be surprised to see a warden write you for this.

I'm in the same boat but my old address is my place of business so I might be OK. Plus all my traps, skinning machine, & fleshing beam are there. But will still check with the CO just to be certian.

I probably should just give them a call. It's one of those deals where I have $20 worth of new tags with the old address and I don't want to order $30 of the new address if I don't have to.

Sleep in tents and wonder about their next meal.

Depends on the CO's mood that day probably.

As long as you both talk to the CO and he says its ok. I know the Jasper CO let me and my step son do it the last 3 yr as long as both have you fur license. But I would check with him again we did every yr

I also have a partner and when we tag traps and snares we both have our own tags and mix them up and have not had a problem. I could see how it could be though, best to talk to the CO.

Page 20 of the IA trapping regulations states " All traps and snares, whether set or not, possessed by a person who can reasonably be assumed to be trapping must have a metal tag attached, plainly labeled with the USERS name and address. Officers appointed by the DNR can confiscate such traps and snares when not properly labeled or checked." You can ask your CO his take but it seems very clear in the regulations and for as little money as we are talking is it worth it not to tag traps with you and your partners?

Have you joined your trappers association? They offer a magazine subscription along with membership. The magazine articles and ads will tell you about all you want to know. Good luck with your trap line.

I would contact Funke and see what they have to say. Good people and fast service. I ordered a knife and had it the next day.
