Sounds like you are not in a good location.
Are coyotes visiting your sets at all? Do you see tracks?
Describe your location?
Google earth shots are very helpfull in this situation to help you out. Can you do that?

cant seem to figure out how to post a picture but i know there are a lot of coyotes around. One place on my farm that im trapping is the corner of a CRP field with a brushy fencerow splitting it with a cornfield. The fencerow runs between the two all the way up into a big lot of timber. As far as i can tell they arent visiting the sets at all.

make sure that you use rubber gloves when trapping yotes, they are very smart animals, if they smell you they gone!

Well Ringtail, you can't catch coyotes if they are not there. I think it would be beneficial to move them to new locations, and if you dont get anything for 2 weeks move them again.

I know the yotes are there, i guess ill just try and put my dirtholes and flat sets in different places, but i did connect at a different farm the first night i set it, caught my first fox! Not sure i have the complete lay of the land in those aerials but a few things I notice on those locations. In first pic your X mark the spot locations, it doesn't look the wind is helping you right now. Things might change a bit now the things are cold and the wind is going to be N / NW. In the first pic on the northmost X the only thing I would suggest is put 2 traps on the west end. If there is a gate hole set both sides. This will help you in any wind. I would be willing to bet there is a good number of tracks on the road heading straight to your set.....probably going east and then the go south to get get around the other timber east. On the south X well I would get permission on that east farm. You need to hit that trail in the middle of that timer and the L in the terrain right at the 300. That spot will help unless the wind is straight S. But if you can get sets on that trail in the middle you should catch the attention of anything going through there. I think with that farmhouse on the west side is going to force the dogs to run the fence both north and south and they might not ever get to your set. I would be curious as to what the farm to the south looks like. MAKE SURE YOU DOUBLE UP.

X2 on setting on sign. Here at my house, the coyotes run the fenceline just East of the house, late spring to early fall, then as soon as the crops are out, they run elsewhere the rest of the year. What I'm saying is if you see them at one location, they might move as food or cover changes. Good luck to ya. Dennis

Do you have permission for all of the areas in your photos?
How many sets are at your X's.
As far as the snapped traps, are they just snapped off in the trap bed? -or- pulled out from the bed with no obvious struggle?
Nice fox!

No only have permission on the property the x's are on, and the neighbors wont allow any trapping. only one set at each x but they are all pretty close together. The trap is just set off in the bed. had another off this moring.

Sounds like you need to jack your pan tension up a little, that would be my guess on your snapped traps.
Your locations are not bad, I am marking them up now for some other places to possibly consider as well.
You should really have at least 2 sets in each spot you have marked with an X, that is my opinion.

ok thank you for all the help, my biggest problem is i dont have very many traps i can use for yotes. right now i have 8 dirtholes out. how much pan tension? i have them set so the pan does not free fall and no wobble, just a little tension on them.

Well ringtail I'm not a big on yote trapping but I do catch them. If you could tell me what type of trap your are using, and where you have your trap positioned at your dirt holes it would be useful in helping you. This late in the season I would advise you to go strictly to chaff sets, because they are basically freeze proof. If you PM me I can tell you how I make them. If you want to stay with dirtholes put 2 traps at each individual dirthole. If a coyote comes by and works your set you have just doubled your chances of catching him. Like I said PM me and I can tell you more.
