I was wondering if anyone would be willing to give me some ideas or some plans for building a skinning machine. I am in a welding class for high school and a requirment is to complete a welding project. Plans would be nice but I can get creative

K.I.S.S. is easy. A cheap 12-volt WINCH from Harbour Freight or ??...for the pulling department. Mount the winch up, above the rafters, if possible. Double the cable and you double the Pulling Strength AND slow the Retrieve-Speed x 2 (in both cases). A 400-lb winch can exert about 800-lbs of pull........... A GAMBREL or something to secure the intended-victum to the winch. And a way to anchor the other end of the victum to the floor. ADD a simple BATTERY CHARGER, any cable or what ever is needed to hook the charger to the winch and you're in business. The BEST PART of building "your own" is just that! Design and Built it yourself. When it works great, you're a genius

Here is what my trappin partner and i have set up:
2x12 with 2 legs on each end. One end is quite abit shorter. Also have plywood nailed on top of the 2x12 to make it wider. About 3 feet wide. There is about 1 foot on each end without plywood.
2x2 on the short end that has 2 vise grips wired on as it sticks out wider than the 2x12.
On the top end we have a hand crank winch. with 2 snares on the end to hook up the the feet.
We skinned a roadkill a few nights ago and it worked real well! The whole thing is probably 15 feet long.
